Houston Astros fans will have to wait a little longer for bowler Lance McCullers Jr. to return from injury.
The Houston Astros started 5-4 after the second weekend of the 2022 season. Justin Verlander has been a superstar for the Astros so far, giving hope to start the team’s rotation. However, the team won’t recover Lance McCullers Jr. from injury anytime soon.
Unfortunately, the Astros have moved McCullers from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list, as he continues to recover from a flexor tendon strain in his forearm. The move was taken to make way for Yordan Alvarez to join a list of 40 men, according to Chandler Roma in Houston Chronicle.
Astros receive unfortunate injury update regarding Lance McCullers Jr.
McCullers suffered a flexor tendon strain during Game 4 of the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox. A return to opening day seemed questionable, with manager Dusty Baker and McCullers himself saying he was “late” in his recovery back in March.
Last week, there was an update that revealed that McCullers was fishing play. However, with the bowler on the injured list for 60 days, he will not be able to make his season debut until the first week of June, when he was initially placed on the injured list on April 4.
Before his injury, McCullers scored 3.16 ERAs, 1,220 WHIPs 185 strikes, and 76 league walks over 162.1 runs (28 starts) last season.
Astros fans should expect to see the McCullers again on the hill in the summer.
